Welcome to Mr. Huie's class! I teach Advanced Studies in U.S. History II, as well as Civics and World Geography for seventh grade. 

Born and raised near Birmingham, I completed undergraduate school at the University of Montevallo before obtaining my master's degree from UAB. I worked as an associate manager in customer service, a reading clinician, and an outdoor education coordinator before embarking on my career as a classroom teacher. Most recently, I taught Civics and World Geography at Irondale Middle School.

I am a passionate educator with a student-centered approach to the classroom. I believe the goal of social studies education is to prepare democratic citizens to make good decisions in their personal and private lives. To this end, I employ interdisciplinary, inquiry-based teaching techniques to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to think like social scientists to address issues and solve problems.
